Dr. Banthia expresses gratitude for Global Citizenship Award at alumni UBC 2018 Achievement Awards

On November 15, 2018, Dr. Nemy Banthia (pictured above left) was awarded the Global Citizenship Award at the alumni UBC 2018 Achievement Awards in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Global Citizenship Award recognizes Dr. Banthia’s dedication to improving the lives of people in marginalized communities through his work to develop advanced infrastructure innovations in answer to challenges facing remote and rural regions of Canada and India.

UBC President Professor Santa J. Ono (pictured above right) presented the Global Citizenship Award to Dr. Banthia and achievement awards to seven other members of the UBC community. The awards honour eight unique and “inspiring members of the UBC community who, through their extraordinary endeavours, have taken the lead on important issues to create positive social change.”

As the CEO and Scientific Director of IC-IMPACTS, Dr. Banthia was nominated for the award for his significant contributions in the field of advanced, low-carbon and low-energy building materials and for his involvement in improving Canada-India ties through the founding of IC-IMPACTS.
